Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The newly constructed 3.4 km stretch of the long-awaited Delhi Dehradun Expressway has recently opened for commuters, improving connectivity and reducing travel time. Once fully operational, the expressway is expected to cut travel time from 6 hours to just 2.5-3 hours. At present, the 212-km-long greenfield expressway offers six lanes for use. It has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
First 18 km From Akshardham Temple To Loni (Toll-Free)
This new Expressway, built in four phases, will span multiple regions, passing through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Additionally, it will offer a direct route to commuters, bringing them closer to a faster and more convenient travel experience. The remaining stretches are still under construction. According to reports, the first 18 km of the route from the Akshardham Temple in Delhi to Loni in Dehradun will be toll-free.
Expected Toll Fees
The commuters currently pay Rs 500 in toll fees on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, with multiple toll plazas along the stretch costing Rs 90, 130, and Rs 75. However, once the stretch is fully constructed, it would offer a bit of relief to the travelers in the initial phase of the journey. There are speculations that toll charges might change after this. While some reports suggest that the toll fees may rise, the authorities are considering a toll pass to ease the financial burden.
