The much-anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is all set to open to the public in the coming days, according to reports. The reports suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the first phase of the expressway in the third week of December. The first phase starts from Akshardham in Delhi and connects to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).
This new expressway will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, with the 210 km stretch cutting the journey from six and a half hours to just about two and a half hours. The first phase will connect the National Capital Region (NCR) to the state of Uttarakhand, allowing vehicles to travel from Delhi to Dehradun.
According to NHAI officials, while the construction work for the expressway is complete, a bridge is still being built to connect the Daat Kali temple. However, this will not affect the operation of the elevated roads.
Phases Of The Expressway:
The first phase, covering 32 kilometers, will run from Akshardham to the EPE. The second phase, covering 118 kilometers, will extend from EPE to the Saharanpur bypass. The third phase, covering 40 kilometers, will connect Ganeshpur to the Saharanpur bypass, and the final phase, covering 20 kilometers, will reach Dehradun.
Cost And Completion Of The Project:
According to officials, around ₹13,000 crore have been invested in the construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
