Delhi Police have made a second arrest in connection with the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta last Wednesday during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ program at her residence. The accused has been identified as Tehseen Syed, a friend of the main accused, Rajeshbhai Khimji Sakriya.
Syed, an auto driver by profession, was detained in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Sunday for allegedly transferring money to Sakriya. He was in constant contact with the prime accused over the phone during his stay in Delhi.
Syed was brought to Delhi for interrogation on Friday and was made to confront his friend. After verifying certain facts, the Delhi Police took him into custody. According to reports, Sakriya had allegedly sent a video of the Delhi CM’s residence to him. Meanwhile, Syed had transferred Rs 2,000 to Sakriya before the latter slapped Rekha Gupta at her residence.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was injured in an assault by 41-year-old Rajesh Khimji Sakaria from Rajkot, Gujarat, during a public hearing (‘Jan Sunwai’) at her residence on Wednesday morning (August 20, 2025).
According to the Gujarati Publisher ‘Sandesh’, the accused’s mother reportedly revealed to the media the motive behind the attack. She stated that Rajesh, a passionate dog lover, acted out of anger over the controversial issue of sending dogs to shelter homes, a topic sparking heated debate in Delhi.
