A major crackdown on Al-Falah University is underway across the country over its alleged involvement in the Delhi car blast that took place on November 10. As investigative agencies probe the university’s funding and operations, another family link has emerged — this time connected to a once-renowned family from Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. This family was famous two decades ago. What is the relation between Al-Falah University and the Siddiqui family of Mhow.
Head of the family worked as the Qazi of Mhow
The founder cum chairman of Al-Falah University is related to a once-renowned Siddiqui family hailing from Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow. According to a New Indian Express report, the head of the family, Mohammad Hammad Siddiqui, worked as the Qazi of Mhow, a respected religious post. It was his son, Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, who founded the University that is in the news.
Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, the son of Hammad, started Al-Falah University and is its chairman. The Delhi Police Crime Branch has asked him to come for questioning because the UGC and NAAC have reported possible fraud and irregularities at the university.
Al-Falah University Founder’s Brother, On The Run For 25 Years
Javed’s brother, Hamood Ahmed Siddiqui, was arrested on Sunday by the Madhya Pradesh Police from Hyderabad in a two-decade-old alleged investment fraud case. Fifty-year-old Hamood, wanted in at least four cases, including a 1988 case related to rioting and attempted murder, was arrested on Sunday in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli area and brought to Mhow on Monday.
About the Siddiqui Family
The family came under scrutiny after the November 10 blast in Delhi. Umar Nabi, who is suspected to have driven the car that exploded near the Red Fort, and another doctor, Muzammil Ganai, who was allegedly part of the terror module, both worked for the Al-Falah Medical Research Foundation.
The Indian Express report, citing sources, reported that the family had started an investment company in the early 1990s, but it collapsed after a stock market crash.
