Warning against visiting THESE Places

The UK government has issued a new travel advisory for its citizens in India. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised its citizens against any travel within 10 kilometres of the India-Pakistan border. This area has been deemed unsafe. Furthermore, travel to most parts of Jammu and Kashmir is prohibited, with air travel permitted only to and from the city of Jammu.

The advice specifically warns against visiting popular tourist destinations such as Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonmarg. British citizens are advised to follow local authorities’ instructions and monitor local media if they are in the surrounding area.

The advisory also says that the Wagah-Attari border crossing is closed and hence, any British citizen should avoid travelling to this area. The British government also warns that any travel insurance may be invalid if a citizen travels contrary to the FCDO’s advice.

Separate Guide for Women, LGBT, and Solo Travellers

UK issues travel advisory: The FCDO has issued safety guidelines for all travellers, including women, LGBT+ individuals, and solo travellers. It advises obtaining travel insurance and understanding local conditions before starting any trip or volunteer travel.

Restricted Travelling to Manipur

UK issues travel advisory: The British government has also warned against non-essential travel to the state of Manipur. The advisory states that curfews and restrictions remain in place in Manipur following ethnic violence that erupted in 2023, and that several violent incidents occurred between May and July 2025.
