Security agencies made several arrests from the Valley in connection with the Delhi car blast that claimed 12 lives and left several others injured. The blast had taken place near the iconic Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening.
The probe agencies are investigating in tandem to discern a terror module spanning Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, involving terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
The initial probe revealed that the Hyundai i20 car used in the blast was originally sold by a man named Salman in Haryana to Tariq from Pulwama, Kashmir.
The police detained Tariq, and the vehicle finally came into the possession of Dr. Umar from Pulwama.
Dr. Umar’s brothers from Pulwama were also arrested and are being interrogated. The police also picked up Dr. Umar’s mother for DNA profiling.
Muzamila, the sister-in-law of Dr. Umar, told News24 that the police came at 10 p.m. last night and picked up her husband and brother-in-law. She said the mobile phones of the family were also seized by the cops. The residence of Dr. Umar was raided again in the morning when the News24 team was present at the spot.
It was shocking that the terror ring includes several radicalised medical professionals, notably doctors such as Dr. Umar, Dr. Adeel, and Dr. Muzamil.
The authorities seized a staggering 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate and other bomb-making chemicals, along with arms, ammunition, timers, and remote controls necessary for IED attacks.
Police have also picked up the brother of Dr. Muzamil in Pulwama. The family of Dr. Muzamil told News24 that they spoke to him on a video call around 13 days ago on the previous Thursday, and from the next day they found his mobile phone switched off.
The sister of Dr. Muzamil told News24 that police have raided their residence several times over the last few days, and on November 10 another brother was picked up. She said their mobile phone and laptop had also been seized by the police. The family didn’t believe that Muzamil was involved in the case and said that they were nationalists from the very beginning.
