The Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Counter Insurgency Kashmir (CIK) units of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched coordinated raids at 13 different locations across the Kashmir Valley as part of the ongoing investigation into the recent blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. The large-scale operation marks a major step forward in the probe.
Officials said that several detentions and recoveries are likely soon as investigators work to uncover the full network behind the attack.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, police have detained Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Hameed Mir, a resident of Achabal in Anantnag. Dr. Mir, who serves at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, was taken in for questioning late last night by a special investigation team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police confirmed through DNA analysis that Dr. Umar Un Nabi was the individual responsible for carrying out the Red Fort car blast. His identity was verified after investigators found a severed leg trapped between the steering wheel and the accelerator of the exploded vehicle. The DNA sample matched that of his mother, confirming his role as the attacker.
Authorities said the investigation is moving swiftly, with multiple leads being pursued. Further arrests and evidence recoveries are expected in the coming days as the case continues to unfold.
NIA leads probe, three doctors from faridabad detained
A powerful explosion shook Delhi on Monday evening when a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car suddenly blew up near the Red Fort around 6:52 pm. The blast killed 13 people and left several others injured, with visuals showing burnt vehicles and bodies scattered across the area.
The probe into the Red Fort blast has now entered its third day, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) taking charge of the investigation. Authorities have detained three doctors from Faridabad’s Al-Falah University, the same institution where Dr. Umar Mohammad, a key suspect, was employed.
Investigators are also examining the sale and ownership records of the Hyundai i20 involved in the explosion, trying to trace the vehicle’s movements and connections leading up to the deadly incident.
