Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener, Arvind Kejriwal in an interview to News 24, stressed that people prefer politics of work. He said that he will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on real issues, in contrast to other parties that will use his name to contest. Kejriwal denied report of Anti-incumbency.
Happy With Whatever Has Been Done So Far
On being asked whether he is used to being called the ex or former Chief Minister of Delhi, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal nodded and said that he is accustomed to it because he is an Aam Aadmi. The former CM went on to say that God has given him various roles. First, he completed his engineering from IIT Kharagpur, then worked at Tata Steel in Jamshedpur, followed by a career as an IRS officer and 10 years of activism in Delhi. He fought against corruption with Anna Hazare, later formed a party, and became the Chief Minister of Delhi.
He said that whatever role God gave him, he was happy with it. He further advised to fulfill every role with selflessness by serving people.
Reflects On Last 10 Years
When asked about how he sees the journey of the last 10 years, Kejriwal said that he is satisfied so far. He has worked selflessly and served people. He added that he has done a few extraordinary things that weren’t done in the last 75 years.
According to Kejriwal, he considers his biggest contributions to be in the fields of education, health, power, electricity, and water. He boasted that they have done brilliant work in these sectors. He highlighted how, under AAP’s rule, government schools have been transformed significantly. The former CM said that students of government schools are now organizing exhibitions, professionals are coming and taking their work, and they are now clearing NEET and JEE exams. He said that seeing all these achievements, he feels that his life on Earth has been successful.
Along with schools, hospitals have been also transformed, they have been fully air conditioned. There can be some limitations but a lot has been improved, Kejriwal added.
Kejriwal On Political Challenges
On being asked if he has any regret for not being able to do what he had thought, Kejriwal denied it and said that there is nothing of that sort, but they faced several challenges in achieving their earlier goals, the foremost being the political challenge.
Kejriwal further highlighted that our country’s weakness is that all the parties cannot work together. “During elections, differences arise among us, but after the elections, whichever party receives the most votes, everyone should accept the mandate, that party, and everyone should then work together for the development of the country,” Kejriwal asserted. He believes that if such thing happens, then country will progress at double rate.
Wishes To Fulfil Three Promises
He was further asked what has been left to do. He talked about his dream project and the three promises he had made in the 2020 elections. He had promised to clean the Yamuna river, develop European-style roads, and make potable water available 24/7 to everyone. He informed that work has started to clean the Yamuna river, but it is still pending.
Kejriwal informed that during his last tenure as Delhi CM, he couldn’t carry these works because of corona outbreak, then he was trapped in false case, his team was shattered, Manish Sisodia, Satyender Jain were put to jail.
When asked about governance in the coming years, he said that the next five years of governance will be clean and hurdle-free. He wishes to fulfil all three promises he made to the Delhiites.
