New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet on Thursday approved a major plan to reorganise the National Capital’s revenue districts.
The city earlier had 11 districts, but now the government has restructured them into 13 new districts.
This change makes all revenue districts match the boundaries of the 12 MCD zones, plus the NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board, so that different departments work within the same areas.

Earlier districts: Central, East, New Delhi, North Delhi, North East, North West, Shahdara, South Delhi, South East, South West, West.
Now three new districts created: Old Delhi, Central North, Outer Delhi. Shahdara district removed for the list.

The Delhi government says the newly formed districts have been divided almost equally for better management.
Key Benefits of the New
Under the new system, many important government departments will now have boundaries matching the Revenue Department, ending long-standing confusion between districts and MCD zones.
Delhi will now have 39 sub-divisions and 39 Sub-Registrar offices for quicker services.
Mini Secretariats in all 13 districts will offer one-stop access to major public services.
