Delhi Airport operator DIAL announced that there will be no flights arriving or departing from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) between 10:20 AM and 12:45 PM for eight days, from January 19 to January 26, 2025. This suspension is due to activities related to the Republic Day celebrations.
IGIA, which is the busiest airport in India, typically handles around 1,300 flights daily. However, it is currently unclear how these restrictions will affect specific flight schedules across various airlines.
DIAL stated, “As per the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued for Republic Day week from 19th to 26th Jan 2025, no flights would be arriving or departing from Delhi Airport between 10:20 AM to 12:45 PM IST.” They also advised passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
Daily Flight Disruption Breakdown
January 19 (Sunday): 85 departures and 85 arrivals affected.
January 20 (Monday): 85 departures and 84 arrivals impacted.
January 21 (Tuesday): 79 departures and 81 arrivals affected, making it the least disrupted day.

Affected International Routes
The airspace closure will also impact international flights to major cities such as Toronto, Washington, Tashkent, Kathmandu, and Colombo. This measure is necessary for the safety of dignitaries and aircraft involved in the Republic Day flypast. Notably, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
