Dehuli Massacre: Three Sentenced To Death By Manipur Special Court

In a significant verdict, a special court in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district has sentenced three men—Kaptaan Singh, Ramsevak, and Rampal Singh—to death for their involvement in the 1981 Dehuli massacre.

Three persons were sentenced to death by a special court of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur district, on Tuesday in connection with the 1981 Dehuli massacre, which resulted in the death of 24 Dalits, including women and two children.

According to reports, special judge Indira Singh convicted Kaptan Singh (60), Rampal (60), and Ram Sevak (70) on March 12. Apart from this, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.

A group of 17 dacoits dressed in khakis invaded Dehuli approximately 4.30 p.m. on November 18, 1981. They attacked a Dalit family, killing 24 members, including toddlers aged six months and two years.

The FIR was registered against 17 accused under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), and 396 (dacoity with murder) of the IPC. Of 17, 14 persons died during the pendency of the trial, while one was declared an absconder.
