Preparation for Diwali celebration is on full spree in the city of Ayodhya. The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced to lit more than 24 lakh diyas across 51 ghats in Ayodhya on the seventh deepotsav making a world record.
Volunteers will be deployed at 51 prominent ghats, including the iconic Ram Ki Paidi and Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, to demonstrate a grand celebration known as ‘Ayodhya Deepotsav.’

According to Ayodhya DM Nitish Kumar, Ram Leela from four countries will be showcased for three days in Ayodhya. Light and sound show and projection mapping will be done at Ram ki Paidi. 24 LED vans have been placed at 24 locations across the city for people to witness the Deepotsav. More than 24 lakh diyas will be lit across 51 ghats during this Deepotsav. Earthern lamps will also be lit on many other ghats and kunds.
According to a press release by Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, 60 to 70 percent of the lamps are already arranged at the designated ghats by the volunteers working under the supervision of ghat in-charges and coordinators.
Cultural activities will be organized to showcase the rich culture of India. India’s culture will be demonstrated in Bharat Kund, Guptar Ghat, Birla Dharamshala, Ramghat, Ramkatha Park in Ram’s Ayodhya from November 9 to 11.
The festivities will portray diverse cultures associated with different languages and styles throughout the state, include regions like Lucknow, Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Bhadohi, Gonda, Sonbhadra, Ghazipur, Barabanki, Ambedkar Nagar, Akbarpur, Sultanpur, Jhansi, and Banda. This will enable the listeners to taste the styles of Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Braj, and Bundelkhandi.
Artistes from Ayodhya’s 12 Ramlilas will take part in the event. A tribal dance of Sonbhadra is also likely to seek attention of the viewers. Artistes from various art forms, from Kerala’s Kathakali to Gujarati Garba are all set to leave a lasting impression. Besides, the Chhau traditional dance will attract the global audience.
