Cyclone Mocha

Cyclone Mocha on Friday intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm over the southeast and adjoining areas of central bay of Bengal, according to officials.

The national Disaster response force (NDRF) has deployed eight teams and 200 rescuers in West Bengal to tackle any exigencies. NDRF issued alert for northeastern states and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for weather situations.

The Indian Meterological Department (IMD) is closely monitoring the cyclonic storm and informed that the cyclone will take severe form of storm by Sunday.
It is expected that landfall can be made along the Bagladesh-Myanmar border. The speed of the wind is expected at 150-160 km per hour.

IMD has forcasted that a storm surge of 1.5-2 metre for the low-lying coastal region of Bangladesh.

The IMD has issued alert for fishermen and travellers. the weather office urged fishemen and travellers not to venture into the central and northeast Bay of Bengal amd north Andaman sea till Sunday, Offical added.
Emegency rescue team is working round the clock to tackle natural calamities.
