The storm may uproot trees, damage houses, affect crops, and create rough sea conditions. Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea, and travel and shipping may be disrupted on November 29-30.

India has launched Operation Sagar Bandhu to assist Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah caused severe devastation, with the Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifting 21 tonnes of relief material, NDRF personnel and essential supplies to Colombo. The IAF shared details of the operation in a post on X as part of India’s swift response to the crisis.
The IAF stated, “In the wake of the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah across Sri Lanka, India swiftly launched Operation Sagar Bandhu to bolster relief efforts,” underscoring India’s commitment to supporting neighbouring countries during natural disasters under its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) framework.

Authorities in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu have closed all schools and stepped up precautions, with 103 vulnerable locations identified, 55 boats and 253 JCBs on standby, and NDRF teams ready for rescue operations. District Collector Sheikh Abdul Rahman announced the closure of all schools on Saturday due to predicted heavy rainfall. “In Villupuram district, all schools will remain closed tomorrow due to heavy rainfall. No special classes or examinations should be conducted under any circumstances. A total of 103 locations in our district have been identified as vulnerable areas,” he said on Friday.
Rahman added that 103 locations in the district have been marked as vulnerable. “For rescue operations, 55 boats are on standby. Five National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel will arrive in the Villupuram district tonight. As there is a possibility of electric poles falling, 12,700 poles have been kept ready. A total of 253 JCB vehicles are on standby. Nineteen coastal fishermen have not ventured into the sea. There is a likelihood of rainfall beginning tomorrow afternoon,” he said.
