Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack on civilians, calling it “deeply disturbing.” In a post on social media platform X, he expressed dismay over the targeting of innocent shoppers at the “Sunday market” in Srinagar. He emphasized the need for the security apparatus to act swiftly to restore peace, saying, “The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks so that people can go about their lives without fear.”

The grenade attack comes just a day after security forces killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander in an encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area. The recent surge in violence has underscored the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace in the region.
