India’s retaliatory measures following the Pahalgam terror attack also impacted many Pakistani citizens who had been living in India after marriage. The government forced mothers, fathers, grandmothers, children, spouses, cousins, and other relatives to leave the country as part of its diplomatic downgrading of ties with Pakistan. Among them, authorities sent the Pakistani wife of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan back to her native place.
Wife Of CRPF Sent Back To Pakistan
According to officials, Minal Khan left for the Wagah border in Punjab from Jammu with her husband and CRPF jawan Munir Khan, a resident of Gharota, Kashmir. He said that Minal met Munir through social media, and later, they married each other.
Appeal To The Government
While leaving for the Wagah border, Minal appealed to the Indian government not to separate Pakistani citizens married to Indian nationals from their children. She said, “We should be allowed to live with our families.” Minal also condemned the barbaric killing of innocent people in the Pahalgam attack, stating that the attackers should be given the harshest punishment.
Pakistani Nationals’ Visas Suspended
Following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of them tourists, the central government has suspended all visa services for Pakistani nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that, in line with the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in response to the attack, the Government of India has decided to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.
Warning to leave India soon
The ministry has advised all Indian nationals in Pakistan to return at the earliest and has instructed Pakistani nationals in India to leave before the expiry of their revised visas—April 27 for regular visas and April 29 for medical visas. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also announced that the Indian government will no longer allow Pakistani nationals to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. The authorities have cancelled all previously issued SPES visas and instructed those currently in India on such visas to leave within 48 hours.
