Covid Update: The number of Covid infections in India increased slightly on Thursday, with 188 new cases reported in the previous day, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In the last 24 hours, 188 new cases of corona have been reported in the country. Whereas during this period there has been news of death of three people due to Covid infection. Earlier on Wednesday, 175 new cases of corona infection were reported in the country. While none of the patients had died. In this way, today a rise of 13 has been recorded in the number of corona infections as compared to yesterday.
According to the data released by the Ministry of Health this morning (January 5, 2023), 188 new cases of corona infection were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. During this, 201 people managed to beat the corona virus infection. With this, the number of active cases of corona has reduced to 2 thousand 554 in the country. A decrease of 16 has been registered in the number of active cases in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of corona infected in the country has increased to 4 crore 46 lakh 79 thousand 319. While the number of people getting cured has increased to a total of 4 crore 41 lakh 46 thousand 055. At the same time, a total of 5 lakh 30 thousand 710 people have died due to corona virus infection in the country.

Now the recovery rate in the country has increased to 98.80 percent. The daily positivity rate is 0.17% and the weekly positivity rate is 0.15%. While the death rate remains at 1.19 percent. Whereas active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections. According to the information available on the website of the Ministry, under the nationwide vaccination campaign, more than 220.12 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been given so far.

The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November. On 19 December 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year on May 4, the number of infected had crossed two crore and on June 23, 2021, it crossed three crore. On January 25 this year, the total cases of infection had crossed four crores.
