New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Wednesday chaired a meeting with health officials considering a surge in Coronvirus cases in neighbouring countries like China, Japan and elsewhere.
The Union government has directed the states to take necessary measures to keep the situation in control. It has asked to step up survaillance for any type of Coronavirus variant.

In a letter to all the states, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, “In view of the sudden spurt of cases being witnessed in Japan, the United States of America, Republic of Korea, Brazil and China, it is essential to gear up the whole genome sequencing of positive case samples.”
It has asked to do “timely detection of newer variant, if any.”

Meanwhile, Mansukh Mandaviya asked the Congress former chief Rahul Gandhi to ensure all measures against the Coronavirus.
China, Japan, US see surge in COVID-19 cases
China has seen a surprising spurt of Coronavirus cases after it eased off the restrictions imposed in the country. As per the data of the World Health Organisation, Japan, Korea, the United States, France and Brazil have also seen a surge in Coronavirus cases.
After the United States, India was the one to record maximum numbers of COVID-19 cases in the world. However, the tally has significantly fallen from past few months.
