New Delhi: India witnessed a spike in daily Covid-19 cases on Thursday(June 28, 2022). The country reported 20,557 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, India’s total tally of cases rose to 4.39 crore, according to Union health ministry data updated today. As per the latest data, the active cases rose to 1,46,323 today. The death toll climbed to 5,26,212 with 44 new fatalities. (midcitiespsychiatry)

Daily and Weekly Positivity Rate

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.31 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.57 percent, according to the data. The cumulative doses administered under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 203.21 crore on Thursday.

Vaccination Tally

India’s COVID-19 case tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 2020, 40 lakh on September 5, 2020, 50 lakh on September 16, 2020, 60 lakh on September 28, 2020, 70 lakh on October 11, 2020, 80 lakh on October 29, 2020, 90 lakh on November 20, 2020 and the one-crore mark on December 19, 2020.

The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore Covid cases on May 4, 2021, the three-crore mark on June 23, 2021 and four crore cases on January 25 this year.

India has “created history again”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday as the country achieved a big milestone of administering two billion vaccine doses in just 18 months.

Congratulating all Indians on crossing the “special figure”, PM Modi said that he is “proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed”. He added that it has “strengthened the global fight against COVID-19”.

Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against COVID-19,” wrote PM Modi on Twitter.
