NASA astronaut Sunita Williams’ return to earth after being stranded at the International Space Station (ISS) for 9 months was nothing short of celebration. She received congratulations, praise from people across the world, including global leaders, actors, business tycoons and other eminent personalities. The Celebration was also marked in India, where people performed Garba at Williams’ native village Jhulasan in Mehsana district of Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, space agency ISRO, actor R. Madhavan, and others welcomed Williams’ back to Earth with heartfelt posts. Business Tycoon and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra also shared a throwback picture while welcoming Williams back.

Anand Mahindra’s post about her return and the rare picture he shared have caught attention of netizens. This is because, in the picture one can spot Williams with him and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. The picture has been considered one of the rarest photos featuring Williams and the two notable Business world personalities.
Anand reposted his 2023 share, where he mentioned how he and Mukesh had a chance encounter with Williams in Washington, while they were trying to call an Uber. He also opened up about little fun chats they had with Williams. Anand wrote, “I suppose this was what they would call a ‘Washington moment.’ After the tech handshake meeting yesterday, Mukesh Ambani, Vrinda Kapoor & I were continuing a conversation with the Secretary of Commerce & missed the group shuttle bus to the next lunch engagement. We were trying to call an Uber when we ran into NASA astronaut Sunita Williams @Astro_Suni Time for a selfie & we also asked if we could hitch a ride on her space shuttle instead of an Uber…”

Back to 2025, upon Williams’ return to Earth, he praised her and expressed his happiness over her homecoming. He wrote on X, “When the SpaceX rescue mission was launched, I recalled this chance encounter almost two years ago with @Astro_Suni in Washington.
