Coronavirus Pandemic: The Center has issued a warning regarding the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has expressed concern in writing to the Health Secretaries of Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The weekly positivity rate in these states is more than 10 per cent.
“The goal should be to speed up vaccination for the eligible population and follow a five-fold strategy and COVID-appropriate behaviour,” Bhushan said.
Issuing a warning, the Union Health Ministry has said that there is a possibility of mass gatherings for various festivals in the coming months. This can increase the number of coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, India has recorded 19,406 fresh Covid-19 cases and 49 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry. The ministry said that active coronavirus cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate has been recorded at 98.50 per cent. A decrease of 571 cases has been registered in the active Covid-19 caseload in 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.96 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.63 percent.
Those who died due to coronavirus included five each from Maharashtra and West Bengal, three from Chhattisgarh, two each from Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Tripura and Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, There is one person each from Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
