He said “I believe in clean politics. I observed Akhilesh Yadav’s actions, and it became evident to me that he was straying from socialist ideology. Having worked closely with Mulayam Singh Yadav, a steadfast socialist leader, I find it unfortunate that those tasked with upholding his legacy are unable to adhere to his principles.”

Upon resigning from the position of the party’s national general secretary, Maurya expressed his commitment to continue working towards the strengthening of the Samajwadi Party, albeit without holding any official post. A member of the state legislative council in UP, Maurya had previously switched allegiance from the BJP to the Samajwadi Party before the 2022 polls. Despite his efforts, he was unsuccessful in his bid for a seat in the assembly from Fazilnagar constituency.
