New Delhi: Addressing a Press Conference, Congress leader Pawan Khera Tuesday said the grand-old party consider Prime Minister Narendra Modi its “star campaigner”.
Taking dig at the PM, Khera pointed out that the latter mentioned about Congress 44 times in his 51-minutes long speech during campaign that too in a state where the saffron party is in government for past 19 years. He said this showed that PM Modi had nothing to tell about the achievements of his own parties.
“You have to take Congress’ name even in the state where you are in ruling government already. This is the condition of your state and central government. Be it Himachal and Karnataka now, Congress got advantage wherever PM Modi set his foot, which is why we consider him as our star campaigner.”
PM Modi During Poll Bound Madhya Pradesh Campaign
Congress leader alleged that PM Modi went to Madhya Pradesh and accused the grand-old party of being against the Women’s Reservation Bill. He pointed out that it was Rajiv Gandhi who had brought the boll in 1989 and the top leaders of the prominent party, including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vanjpayee refused their support.
“We consider PM Modi as our star campaigner… He keeps saying that Congress is against the Women’s Reservation Bill, but let me remind you that in 1989 when Rajiv Gandhi proposed this bill in Rajya Sabha, it was opposed by BJP leaders namely Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Jaswant Singh… This bill could have passed at that time but it was opposed by their leaders…,” said Khera.
