Conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, who was arrested in 2015 for a huge fraud case, has written a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In the letter, he has requested the Indian government to allow him to declare his overseas income for 2024-2025 under a special tax scheme, as per media reports.
Sukesh revealed that he owns two companies—LS Holdings International in Nevada, USA, and Speed Gaming Corporation in the British Virgin Islands. These companies, which have been running since 2016, are involved in online and offline gaming and betting. According to Sukesh, his companies made a total of $2.7 billion in 2024.
These businesses are operating in several countries like the USA, Spain, the UK, Dubai, and Hong Kong. Sukesh also mentioned that he is ready to pay Rs 7,640 crore in taxes on his overseas income for 2024 and is willing to settle any pending income tax issues with the Indian government.
According to media reports, Apart from paying the taxes, Sukesh said he wants to reinvest the money in India, particularly in the technology sector and online skill gaming. However, Sukesh’s past crimes are serious.
He is accused of running a large extortion scheme, where he allegedly tricked wealthy people, including well-known business figures and celebrities, out of huge amounts of money. He is also facing investigation in a money laundering case worth Rs 200 crore by the Enforcement Directorate and other agencies, including the Delhi Police’s Economic Offence Wing.
