New Delhi: Several Congress workers on Friday tried to block a convoy of the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Kamareddy district of Telangana. However, the police detained the supporters following an outrage by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers.

While attempting to stop the union minister’s car, members of the Youth Congress involved in a clash with BJP workers and the police.

During the clash, several workers of both the parties were injured.

The incident occurred at Birkur district when Nirmala Sitharaman visited public distribution system (PDS) shops. During her inspection, she asked civil supplies department and the district collectorate about the missing picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from shops.

She also inspected about the quantity of PDS rice that has been supplied so far.

However, the Union minister asked the authorities to look into the matter and report her as she did not get satisfying answer.

The Finance Minister is on tour to Zaheerabad parliamentary constituency under BJP’s Parliament Pravas Yojana.
