On Thursday, the Kerala Congress shared a video of a crowded train from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The text message accompanying the video began with “Dear Amitabh Bachchan…” with the Bollywood actor’s X account tweeted in the post.
The Kerala Congress said, ‘We need your help. Millions of ordinary people are forced to travel like this. Even the reserved sections are full of people. It is 52 degrees Celsius in North India, and this video is from Gorakhpur, where the Chief Minister of UP is from.’
People were suffering from the heat in the overcrowded train compartment and were seen trying to fight the heat with plastic fans.
The Kerala Congress criticized the Centre, noting that although the country’s population has grown by 14 million in the last decade, the Centre has not added a proportionate number of trains to the fleet.

In a message, the Kerala Congress explained why it contacted Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.
The party claimed that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw did not heed the party’s pleas to increase the number of trains.
The Kerala Congress said, ‘However, he is quick to respond to issues raised by the rich and famous, even when asking for the recovery of a hacked Twitter account.’
The party tried to leverage Amitabh Bachchan’s influence to draw attention to the issue.
The Kerala Congress said, ‘Due to your influence and commitment to social causes, we request that you tweet about this issue. Your support can help draw much-needed attention to the plight of these people and perhaps inspire action.’
