Rahul Gandhi disqualified (Congress at Rajghat): After losing its membership in the Lok Sabha, the Congress will hold a rally in support of Rahul Gandhi across the country today. Congress leaders and workers will protest in front of the Gandhi statue in every state. Simultaneously, senior party leaders will perform a satyagraha at the Raj Ghat. The Satyagraha will begin at 10 am and end at 5 pm.

The protest is being held against the backdrop of Rahul Gandhi being disqualified as Lok Sabha MP leader after he was convicted in a defamation case in 2019. He was sentenced to two years in gaol for saying “Why all thieves bear the surname Modi” at a rally in Kolar, Karnataka, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

  • MP Youth Congress chief Vikrant Bhuria was apprehended on Sunday for stopping a train at Kamlapati railway station in Bhopal to protest the disqualifictaion of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha, PTI reported citing a police official.
  • Congress big leaders including Prithviraj Chavan, Balasaheb Thorat and Bhai Jagtap have held a ‘Sankalp Satyagrah’ in Mumbai.

  • Delhi Police has denied permission to the Congress party to protest at the Rajghat. The police have given the reason for denying permission to the traffic management and imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the area.

  • Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will attend a satyagraha at the Rajghat in New Delhi. All state Congress committees have been asked to organise a day-long satyagraha in front of the Gandhi statues.<

Congress satyagraha at Raj Ghat

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will hold a Satyagraha at the Raj Ghat in the national capital. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Saturday said party workers will hold Sankalp Satyagraha at all state headquarters and Gandhi statues.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said he will continue to defend democracy in the country even if he is expelled from Parliament for life.

Rahul Gandhi’s reaction

Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said he will continue to defend democracy in the country even if he is expelled from Parliament for life or gaoled. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad hit back, alleging that Rahul Gandhi had insulted the backward community and was convicted in a defamation case for his defamatory remarks in 2019.
