In 2004, Rahul Gandhi entered the political arena by contesting from the Amethi constituency, a seat he successfully retained in subsequent elections, winning three times. However, in 2019, he faced defeat at the hands of the BJP’s Smriti Irani in Amethi. Despite this setback, Gandhi secured a seat in the Lok Sabha representing the Wayanad constituency.
From Chhattisgarh, the Congress has nominated former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to contest from Rajnandgaon, Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund, Jyotsna Mahant from Korba, and Shivkumar Dehariya from the Janjgir-Champa constituency.
