New Delhi: The grand old party is ecstatic about the election of the Congress President. The election for the President post of the Congress is being seen as Ashok Gehlot vs Shashi Tharoor. According to sources, Kerala MP Tharoor will run for Congress President alongside Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Chief Minister is on a tour of Delhi today. He will meet Sonia Gandhi, the party’s interim president, here. According to reports, Gehlot will meet with Sonia Gandhi about the presidency. Both leaders can discuss the election of the party’s president during this time. Ashok Gehlot is expected to join the Kerala India Jodo Yatra after meeting Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier on Tuesday, at a Congress Legislature Party meeting in Jaipur, Ashok Gehlot stated that if he files a nomination for the post of party president, a message will be sent to the MLAs in Delhi. He stated that he would travel to Kochi and urge Rahul Gandhi to run for party president.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor met with interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi. According to sources, Shashi Tharoor asked Sonia Gandhi for permission to run for President of the Congress, which she granted. According to Sonia Gandhi, anyone can run for office.
Shashi Tharoor, a member of the notorious G23 rebel group, has stated that he can strengthen internal democracy. In such a case, if Tharoor files for the position of Congress President, an interesting election is almost certain.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot may run for Congress President between September 26 and 28.
According to party sources, no one from the Gandhi family will file a nomination for the position of Congress President. It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi has given several indications in the past that he intends to stick to his old stance of not becoming the party chief.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the demand for Rahul Gandhi to be elected President of the Congress arose once more. Congress units in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar passed resolutions calling for Rahul Gandhi to retake the party’s helm.
The notification for the election of the Congress President will be issued on September 22, and the nominations will be accepted from September 24 to September 30. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is October 8. If there are more than one candidate, voting will take place on October 17 and the results will be announced on October 19.
