New Delhi: Congress Member of Parliament Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding a discussion on the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a member of the lower house.

In a letter, he demanded a debate in the parliament over the disqualification of congress leader and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi.

“There should be a debate in the Parliament as to ascertain the fact that whether our leader Shri Rahul Gandhi ji has been awarded disproportionate punishment which smacks of cognitive dissonance or equality of law is meted out to all the elected members whosoever,” he states in the letter.

Following his conviction in the 2019 defamation case, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been disqualified as a Lok Sabha member.
