New Delhi: Balu Dhanorkar who was the only Congress’ Lok Sabha MP died on Tuesday morning in Gurgaon where he was admitted due to the complications after surgery to remove kidney stones.

”Balubhau breathed his last early Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital,” Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe said.

The 47-year-old MP was admitted to a hospital in Nagpur on May 26 but he was later rushed to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Sunday following his deteriorating condition. However, he could not survive.

As per the information, the Lok Sabha MP’s mortal remains will be kept in his hometown, Warora, Tuesday afternoon for people to pay their last respects. Meanwhile, the last rites will take place on Wednesday.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor extended condolences and tweeted, “Sad to learn that our @INCIndia parliamentary colleague, Suresh Narayan Dhanorkar (MP from Chandrapur constituency in Maharashtra) passed away overnight, the second demise of a Congress MP during the 17th Lok Sabha. He was only 47. My condolences to his loved ones. Om Shanti.”

“Saddened by the demise of Mr. Balubhau Dhanorkar, MP from Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Keeping a deep connection with the public, he dedicated himself to reach and fulfill the hopes of the common man. His death is an irreparable loss to all of us. My condolences to the bereaved families. Om Shanti!,” wrote Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla.
