Haryana Election Result: The Congress party has rejected the results of the Haryana Assembly election, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and subverting the will of the people.
Addressing the media on Tuesday evening, Congress General Secretary and Communications in-charge, Jairam Ramesh, expressed concerns over the counting process. He stated, “I’ve been in touch with the Election Commission all afternoon. We’ve received serious complaints about the counting process and EVM malfunctions in at least three districts. We plan to present this information in a consolidated form to the Election Commission.”

Unexpected Results and Allegations of Subversion
Ramesh further commented on the election results, calling them unexpected and counter-intuitive, stating they do not reflect the ground reality. He claimed that the BJP’s victory was a result of subverting the democratic process. Earlier in the day, Congress had written to the Election Commission, alleging delays in the upload of up-to-date voting trends on the Commission’s website. The Election Commission, however, dismissed the claims, calling them “irresponsible, unfounded, and uncorroborated.”
Congress’s Concerns Over EVMs
As the BJP surged past Congress in the later stages of vote counting, Congress leader Pawan Khera raised concerns about discrepancies in EVMs, particularly in the districts of Hisar, Mahendragarh, and Panipat. Khera stated that complaints had been filed with the Returning Officers in these regions and that the party would escalate these concerns to the Election Commission.
Election Outcome
Despite initial leads by the Congress, the BJP made a strong comeback and, at the time of reporting, had won 47 seats and was leading on 1 more.
This turn of events has left the Congress frustrated, leading to their accusations of EVM tampering and a subverted democratic process
