CMS-03 Mission: ISRO to lift its heaviest 4,400-kg communication satellite aboard LVM3-M5 today- Check launch time & other details

CMS-03 Mission: India’s largest launch vehicle, the LVM3, is set to place the communication satellite CMS-03 into orbit on Sunday evening, November 2. Marking a significant milestone for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), CMS-03 will be the first satellite weighing over 4,000 kg to be launched into a distant geosynchronous transfer orbit from Indian soil.

CMS-03 Mission: Check launch time

This is the fifth operational flight of LVM3 launch vehicle carrying the CMS-03 communication satellite. The LVM3-M5 mission will lift off from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 5:26 pm. Until now, ISRO relied on foreign private space agencies to launch its heavier satellites. The current mission marks a significant milestone in India’s space capabilities, showcasing the growing strength of the LVM3 launch vehicle.

ISRO, in its earlier official release, stated that the launch vehicle has been fully assembled and integrated with the spacecraft and has been moved to the Launch Pad on October 26, 2025 for further pre-launch operations. About CMS-03 Mission

CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite designed to provide services across a wide oceanic region, including the Indian landmass. Weighing about 4,400 kg, CMS-03 will be the heaviest communication satellite to be launched to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) from Indian soil. Notably, the previous mission of LVM3 successfully launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission, through which India became the first country to land successfully near the lunar south pole.

CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite, hence, it will provide enhanced communication coverage. It will support a wide range of communication services such as television broadcasting, telecommunication, and data transmission.CMS-03 will further provide communication coverage over a vast oceanic region, including the Indian mainland and surrounding waters, ensuring stronger and more reliable connectivity. It will significantly boost Digital India and Connectivity Initiatives.
