Incident Started With a Mobile Phone Video

According to officials, the issue began on Thursday when the boy brought his mobile phone to school, which is against the rules. He recorded a video inside his classroom and later uploaded it on social media. When the school administration found out, they called his parents for a meeting the next morning.

CCTV footage reviewed by authorities shows the boy entering the principal’s office and staying there for nearly four minutes. In the footage, he can be seen apologising again and again, saying “sorry” 52 times, and appearing scared and stressed.

Family Claims Principal Made Threats

The student later told his parents and officials that the principal had threatened to suspend him, take away his medals, and ruin his skating career. These alleged threats deeply upset him, leading to the shocking incident.

He became extremely frightened after hearing those threats. The young skater, known for his discipline and talent, broke down emotionally after the conversation. Just moments after stepping out of the office, CCTV footage shows him running down the corridor and suddenly jumping over the third-floor railing. What makes the incident even more painful is that the boy’s father was already on the school premises, waiting to meet him. He had no idea that the situation had gotten so serious.

School Says Phones Strictly Banned on Campus

“I was invited to meet my son. When I reached the school, I found out he had fallen… He has been to nationals twice in skating. I got a call from the school, but then another call came from the school asking me to come straight to the hospital,” according to his father, Pritam Katara.

SDM Archie Harit said that mobile phones are strictly banned inside the school. She added, “The boy is in Class 8. He brought his phone to school. He ran and jumped. His condition is stable now. An inquiry will be done. Phones are not allowed even for teachers. He is a talented skater with a strong national record.”

District Education Officer Anita Sagar said, “We will take action once the investigation is completed. We have already written to the police to look into the matter. The student’s family is demanding action against the school administration.”

The school, on the other hand, said they wanted to talk to the boy’s father before deciding on any punishment. However, the sudden and tragic turn of events has raised serious concerns about how the situation was handled.
