Civil Administration And Security Agencies Conduct ‘Operation Shield’ Mock Drill Across J-K

The primary objective of ‘Operation Shield’ is to bolster readiness in vulnerable areas near the Line of Control and the International border.

In an effort to enhance regional preparedness, the Civil Administration, in collaboration with security agencies, successfully executed the second phase of the civil defense mock drill named ‘Operation Shield’ today. The exercise was conducted across various districts in Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Baramulla, Handwara, Anatnag and Bandipora, as well as in several locations in Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

The primary objective of ‘Operation Shield’ is to bolster readiness in vulnerable areas near the Line of Control and the International border. The mock drills focused on improving response strategies in border districts, ensuring that local authorities and security forces are well-equipped to handle potential emergencies.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the drill also extended to districts such as Akhnoor and Samba in the Jammu division. As part of the exercise, residents were informed that at approximately 8 PM today, a blackout would occur following the sound of sirens, simulating a real-life emergency scenario.

Bilal Mohiuddin, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, highlighted the importance of such drills in preparing people for unforeseen situations. “Operation Shield is crucial for enhancing our readiness and response capabilities. By conducting these exercises, we aim to ensure that both our civil administration and security forces are well-prepared to protect our citizens,” he said.
