In a major move to promote the welfare of its personnel and their families, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched a series of initiatives. These initiatives aim to give easy low interest loans to its members with extended repayment periods, increased opportunities for the wards, improved support for medical treatments, higher benefits for retirees, provision of funds for unit level programs, etc.
CISF’s Major Welfare initiatives will benefit 1.6 Lakh Force Members. The online welfare portal will be rolled-out on Monday, September 1. Over 100 crores is set to be released for Loans, scholarships and other welfare benefits.
The Key Initiatives Include:
Loans for personal Needs raised to Rs 5 lakhs.
Interest rate slashed to 03 % from earlier 06 %.
Repayment period extended from 3 years to 5 years.
Out-of-Pocket expenses on unpaid medical expenses to be reimbursed.
All CISF wards scoring over 80% marks now eligible for DG Scholarship.
Scholarships for Wards of Martyrs increased. No cap on the number of beneficiaries.
Retirees will now get Rs 1.25 Lakh out of Risk-Saving payments.
The manual loan system will be replaced with an Online Portal, where personnel can apply directly. Applications will be processed within 15 days, and the loan amount will be credited directly to their accounts.
More than 100 Crores will be made available out of the Welfare Fund for financing these welfare activities.
The new measures will ensure faster, more transparent delivery of services, ease financial stress and reach the maximum number of personnel.
Major Benefits
Some of the significant measures adopted to ease financial stress of personnel are:
The interest rates on personal loans, which was earlier up to 6%, has now been halved to 3% flat across all categories. Medical treatment loans will carry just 2% interest.
The ceiling on loan amount in cases like home loans, Marriage, etc has been increased to Rs 5 lakhs from earlier 3 lakhs. Moreover, the repayment period has significantly been increased from earlier 3 years to 5 years.
Out-of-Pocket expenses on unpaid medical bills under schemes like Ayushman CAPF and CGHS, will be fully reimbursed through central welfare fund. Earlier it was capped at 10% of bill and limited up to maximum of Rs 50,000.
Personnel will now be provided financial aid even during Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) on medical grounds.
CISF has made significant reform in the DG Scholarship Scheme as well. It has been now extended to benefit a far larger pool of wards of CISF personnel (studying in 10+2). Earlier only 150 students with more than 90% marks were provided scholarship.
According to the new initiative, now CISF wards who score more than 80% marks will be eligible for scholarship of 20,000 and those above 90% marks will get Rs 25,000. Interestingly, there will be no cap on the number of beneficiaries.
Scholarship amount for Wards of Martyrs from class 01 to PG has also been increased from Rs 6,000-18,000 to Rs 10,000-20,000. There will be no cap on the number of beneficiaries.
