Mumbai Police detained a teenager from Chhattisgarh on Wednesday for allegedly making hoax bomb threat calls targeting three flights. The threats were posted on social media, leading to complaints about potential bombs on flights headed to Mumbai.
Investigation Reveals a Personal Dispute
Upon investigation, authorities discovered that a minor boy was behind the threats. It was found that the boy had a disagreement with a friend over money, and in retaliation, he posted the threats online, using his friend’s photo. The police detained the boy and, after notifying his parents, handed him over to the Juvenile Justice Board.
Connection to Other Recent Hoax bomb Threats
The police are now investigating if this incident is connected to other recent hoax bomb threats, as nearly a dozen Indian flights, both domestic and international, have received similar threats over the past three days.
Civil Aviation Minister’s Response
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu is closely monitoring the situation and assured the public that steps are being taken to prevent such incidents. “Mumbai Police has arrested a minor responsible for issuing bomb threats to three flights. We will identify and prosecute all others involved,” the minister said.
