Chennai: A couple has been arrested for torturing and murdering a 15-year-old domestic worker. Police have also arrested four other individuals in connection with the case.
As per the police, the minor girl was reportedly subjected to extreme abuse, said to have been tortured and severely burnt with a hot iron rod and cigarette butts before she breathed her last in an apartment in Mehta Nagar, Aminjikarai.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Nishad and Nasiya escaped from the scene leaving the girl’s dead body still lying in the bathroom, and sought refuge at Nishad’s sister’s residence. It was reported that Nishad’s lawyer reported the matter to the police later on.
The victim’s mother, a widow from Thanjavur district, has been informed of the incident.

Police are awaiting the postmortem, which will be conducted at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. Additional research is still being conducted.
