Raipur: Chhattisgarh Congress MLA Channi Chandu Sahu sustained injury after an allegedly drunk man attacked her with a knife while she was sharing the stage at a Public Function in Jodhar village.

The accused, identified as Khileshwar, was arrested.

Sahu, an MLA from Khujji seat, came to participate in a public function in Jodhar village in the Dongargaon Police Station area. According to initial information, Shahu was sitting on the dais, and suddenly, a drunk person reached there with a knife and attacked the MLA.

Police officials said that Sahu suffered a minor wound on his wrist, following which she was taken to the Community Health Center in Chhuria. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party condemned the incident saying the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated to the extreme. In a statement, the BJP said, “When an MLA of the ruling party is not safe, what will happen to the common people?” This is the failure of the Bhupesh Baghel government.
