Jammu-Kashmir: The nine-day-long festival of Chaitra Navratri began on Sunday, March 31, with the morning aarti performed at Hindu temples across the country. On the first day of Navratri, thousands of devotees flocked to the shrine of Maa Vaishno Devi to worship the Goddess. To mark the occasion, the entire track from Katra to Bhawan has been decorated beautifully, just like a bride.
In light of the Navratri festival, tight security arrangements are also in place to ensure pilgrims face no difficulty in seeking Maa Vaishno Devi’s blessings. Visuals showed a huge number of devotees gathered from all over the country and abroad to offer prayers at the shrine. Mata Shailputri, one of the nine avatars of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on the first day of Navratri.

Devotees also gathered in large numbers at Maa Mansa Devi temple, located on Shivalik Mountain in Haridwar. Meanwhile, on the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri, a morning aarti was held at the iconic Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi. The nine-day-long festival, also known as Ram Navratri, ends on Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama. Throughout the festival, all nine days are dedicated to honoring the nine avatars of the Goddess Durga (‘Shakti’).
