New Delhi: IAS-IPS and other officers posted in the North Eastern states will no longer be eligible for special allowances. This major decision was recently made by the central government. This special allowance was actually given to officers of the All India Services’ North-Eastern cadre (AIS). This amounted to roughly 25% of his basic salary. The Central Government has directed that this special allowance be discontinued immediately.
On February 10, 2009, the Central Government directed that this allowance be paid to officers as a special grant. This was only applicable to officers from the North-East cadre. It is applicable to officers of the three All India Services, namely the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Police Service (IPS), and the Indian Forest Service (IFS).
According to the information, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) stated in a brief order dated September 23, 2022 that the government has decided to withdraw the various incentives/special allowances currently being given to AIS officers working in the North East region after reviewing the situation. has made a decision Officers received incentives/special allowances through four directives issued between 2007 and 2017.
