New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government on Tuesday will introduce a bill to replace the ordinance control of Delhi services, in Parliament.
The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, is scheduled to be presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed this during Friday’s Lok Sabha session, mentioning that the bill, aimed at replacing the Delhi ordinance, is officially listed on the agenda for the upcoming week.
The bill aims to replace the ordinance introduced by the Centre in May, which excluded ‘services’ from the legislative authority of the Delhi legislative assembly. This move came shortly after a Supreme Court ruling on the control of services in Delhi.
