Centre on Tuesday sent a notice to Wikipedia pointing many complaints of being bias and putting inaccurate information on the web page. Wikipedia put itself as free online encyclopedia where people can create or edit pages on various issues.
However, it is dealing with legal challenges in India over alleged inaccurate and defamatory date on their site.

This follows a Delhi High court ruling, which described Wikipedia’s open editing as “dangerous”. The Indian government has raised concern over alleged bias and inaccurate data on the site. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, mentions various complaints. The Indian Government stated that their editing control for site is in very few hands.
Wikipedia-ANI Case
In the month of September, the Delhi High Court issued a contempt notice to Wikipedia for failing to disclose information about users responsibly for allegedly defamatory notes to India’s biggest News agency ANI’s page on their site.
Justice Navin Chawla warned that Wikipedia’s operation will be suspended if they did not comply to courts order. The case is about certain edits on ANI’s Wikipedia page, which made news agency ANI to file a defamation lawsuit against the platform. ANI submitted a contempt application to High court, alleging Wikipedia had not adhered court’s earlier order.
Wikipedia said that it required additional time to respond.
