New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is scheduled to commence from July 20. Before the session, the central government has called for an all-party meeting on 19th July. The purpose of this meeting is to seek cooperation from all parties in conducting the Monsoon Session smoothly.
The session will run for a duration of 23 days and is scheduled to conclude on August 11. During this period, a total of 17 meetings will be held in both houses of Parliament.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pralhad Joshi, has convened this meeting. The meeting will be attended by the leaders of all parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The appeal to contribute constructively to the legislative and other proceedings of Parliament will be made during the session.
With several states having upcoming Assembly elections, there is a possibility of heated debates and discussions during the Monsoon Session. Various issues such as the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Delhi government ordinances, inflation, the Manipur violence, and the Chinese incursion in the Line of Actual Control (LAC) may become topics of intense deliberation. However, the central government has not officially initiated any discussions or proposals regarding the Uniform Civil Code yet. Nevertheless, the speculations around the introduction of a UCC bill during the Monsoon Session have put the opposition parties on alert.
