To strengthen road connectivity in Delhi-NCR, the central government has approved a new 30-kilometer expressway project. This expressway aims to connect Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida to the upcoming Jewar International Airport. Running parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the road will connect Pashta Road to both the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway, according to a News18 report. The proposal to build this link was first put forward by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma.
Now, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has extended his support. Dr. Mahesh Sharma said, “Creating a direct and effective road link is not only necessary but absolutely essential to realize the full potential of Jewar Airport.” Gadkari’s statement came during a tree plantation event at the Jewar Airport site as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The Union Minister also stated that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will implement the project and funding will not be a problem. The government is currently working on major infrastructure projects in the Delhi-NCR region, and this project is part of those plans. Gadkari stated that several other projects worth Rs 1.2 lakh crore are underway, half of which have already been completed. He also stated that the central government is willing to invest an additional ₹40,000-50,000 crore for infrastructure development.
Noida Authority Grants Principal Approval
Previously, the Noida Authority granted its principal approval for the construction of the riverside expressway in March 2025. The objective was to alleviate the already overburdened Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) was entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the project and was also directed to work out a cost-sharing arrangement between the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway authorities.
