JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha on Saturday stated that the party has urged the Election Commission to conduct polling in Bihar in a single-phase. The JDU presented its point during a meeting held by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar-led delegation with officials and leaders of political parties ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 in Patna. Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, along with Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Gunjyal and other senior officials were part of the delegation.
Jha stated that Bihar will show the country how Special Intensive Revision (SIR) should be conducted. He urged for single-phase polling, emphasising that law and order in Bihar is well maintained. Jha pointed out that if elections can be held in one phase in Maharashtra, then the same should be possible in Bihar.
“We put forward our point before the Election Commission. SIR has happened in Bihar, and Bihar will show the country the way SIR is done. We have urged that elections should be held in 1 phase in Bihar. Law and order in Bihar is in good condition. If elections can be held in one phase in Maharashtra, then why not in Bihar,” Jha told ANI.

Kumar Parvez shares lists his party’s demand
Kumar Parvez, representative of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation also shared details about the meeting and listed the demands put forth by his party.
“Our first demand is that the EC clarify the final SIR list. We also insist the EC publish details of the 366,000 voters whose names were deleted, including reasons and basis for removal. Our second demand relates to the new voters who have been added. We asked the EC to identify incorrectly deleted names, individuals who filed objections, and the number of names added. It’s unclear why the deducted and new names are combined, as both are needed for Form 60. Please provide separate lists. Our third demand was to understand the sex ratio in Bihar,” Parvez said.
