High Court Transfers Both Rape-Murder and Corruption Investigations To CBI
The RG Kar hospital was the site where a trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9. The agency took over the investigation from the West Bengal government’s special team after the Calcutta High Court directed them to do so.
The High Court had earlier assigned the investigation of the trainee doctor’s rape and murder to the CBI and has now also given the corruption investigation to the central agency.
The High Court has ordered the CBI to provide a progress report on the investigation within three weeks.
Sandip Ghosh And Four Others Undergo Polygraph Tests
On Saturday, Sandip Ghosh and four others took polygraph tests at the CBI office in Kolkata. Polygraph experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi were brought in to carry out the tests.
In addition to Ghosh, lie detection tests were also conducted on two doctors, an intern, and a hospital staff member who were on duty the night the trainee doctor was assaulted and assassinated in a seminar hall at RG Kar.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was arrested in connection with the brutal rape and murder. The CBI will give him a polygraph test today.
