AAP rice offer: When BJP and Congress are busy in war of words over the implementation of 5 kg free rice under the scheme of ‘Anna Bhagya’ and refusal of centre to sell rice to Karnataka, Karnataka AAP unit has said that Punjab is ready to provide rice to Karnataka government.
Talking to the reporters, the State president of the party, Prithvi reddy, said that AAP-ruled Punjab government will provide support to overcome the problem of rice shortage in the State.
” Congress party in the State has come to power today and announcing many hasty promises to the people. we will not engage in any political hypocracy in this situation where the poor people are in trouble due to these promises”.
“Our aim is to alleviate the sufferings of poor people. The Punjab Chief Minister said that he is ready to give full helping hand in this direction”, said Prithvi Reddy.
Responding to the offer, chief minister Siddaramaiah said that chief secretary will get in touch with the Punjab government.
In response to the rice shortage issue, the Congress party in Karnataka has planned demonstrations on Tuesday at all district headquarters to protest against the BJP-led central government for allegedly withholding rice intended for the state’s ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, which provides 10 kg of rice to each member of families living below the poverty line.
This recent AAP move in the favour of Karnataka has sparked the discussion about its wider reach for the party and the broader approach of united opposition as the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner. However, it is expected that the approach of AAP may boost Oppostion’s morale and can reshape the political landscape in its favour. As there is growing need to join forces ahead of Lok sabha election 2024.
