New Delhi: An exchange of blames between the Opposition and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre stirred the Parliament on Monday when the second leg of the Budget session began. Seeing the ruckus, the house was adjourned till 2 PM.

The Opposition raised again the demand of constituting Joint Parliamentary Commission (JPC) to probe the allegations levelled against Gautam Adani in US-based Hindenbery report. Meanwhile, the BJP lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “insulting” the nation on foreign land.

‘Mics went off while discussion on Adani issue’: Kharge

Reacting to which, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that there is no democracy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule.

“There is no rule of law and democracy under Modi ji. They are running the country like a dictatorship, and then they talk about democracy.”

Kharge accused that their mics get switched off in the House whenever they try to have discussion on the alleged act of stock manipulation by business giant Gautam Adani.

AAP and BRS Stage Protest Before Mahatma Gandhi statue

Backing up the Congress on the Adani issue, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) also staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament.

In addition to that, the two parties raised another burning matter — alleged misuse of the Central investigation agencies.

In the latest, the AAP-led Delhi government felt strong political tremors with the resignation of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after being arrested in an alleged excise policy scam.

Meanwhile, BRS leader and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, K Kavitha has also been summoned by the central probe agencies in the matter.

Following the summons and arrests, both the parties accused the central government of misusing the central probe agencies to oppress the Opposition in the nation.

BJP Carries Out Attack Against Rahul Gandhi

In another significant episode in the Parliament today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was severely criticised for his remarks in United Kingdom where he said “the structures of our democracy are under brutal attack.”

BJP leader Girriraj Singh asked for filing a sedition case against Gandhi. He said, “Rahul Gandhi in London said that MPs were not allowed to speak in Parliament. This is an insult to Lok Sabha. The House speaker should take action against him on this statement. A sedition case should be registered against him for insulting our democracy.”
