In a recent interaction with the media on Tuesday, former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh clearly stated that he has taken retirement from wrestling and now has nothing to do with any activity happening in the federation.
Brij Bhushan Singh segregates himself
When asked if he is going to take an interest in the future, he said – No! I’ve been a part of it and served it for 12 years, now I’m no more part of it or any controversy related to it. A new federation has been formed which has to make decisions. I’ve completely segregated myself from wrestling.
When asked to comment about a picture of him with Sanjay Singh that got circulated, and there are speculations of the dissolvement of the federation due to this relation, he tried making a point by mentioning his following on social media.
He said – Facebook par chale jayiye, wahan hamare kitne followers hain. Aur Sanjay Singh wrestling se kayi varshon se jude hue hain.

Seems like he wanted to clarify that he has a huge fan following and pictures can be taken with anyone and people in wrestling love him and that’s what depicted the picture. Sanjay Singh is not a new name but has been associated with wrestling for many years.
Politics > Federation
Moreover, his statement has cleared the picture on two points – he wishes to be out of this controversy and the leadership might have asked him to focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Second, he has somehow accepted that he should stay away from the federation for its smooth facilitation.
Is the picture clear now?
The Wrestling Federation of India has been making headlines for many months for reasons that are not sports. After the election of a fresh body for the federation, Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik announced her retirement following which the sports ministry suspended the elected body including the new WFI president Sanjay Singh.

The dissolvement of a newly-formed body fumed the suspended and the former WFI president. While the suspended president stated that he is not a dummy president and has been in wrestling for more than a decade, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also said the same in a different tone.
